TL;DR
Director, Research Process Optimization (AI): Designing and implementing cross-functional process improvements across clinical research operations with an accent on study activation, patient accrual, automation, and technology delivery. Focus on translating operational requirements into Salesforce, CTMS, and AI-enabled solutions, coordinating technical teams, and measuring outcomes through metrics and scorecards.

What you will do

  • Identify process-improvement opportunities across contracting and budgeting, study activation, regulatory, quality, finance, study operations, and site management.
  • Analyze current and future-state workflows using Lean Six Sigma and data-driven methods, facilitating working sessions with cross-functional teams.
  • Design, build, and roll out improved processes, SOPs, work instructions, and roles-and-responsibilities frameworks.
  • Translate operational needs into technology requirements and coordinate delivery of workflow platforms, tracking systems, Salesforce, CTMS, AI, and automation tools.
  • Lead implementation and change management across central functions and research sites, ensuring adoption and sustainable integration.
  • Define metrics, scorecards, and dashboards to measure study activation speed, patient accrual, site satisfaction, adoption, and operational performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, operations management, healthcare, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • At least 8 years of experience in process improvement or operations, with a record of personally implementing change.
  • Required experience in clinical research operations within a CRO, site management organization, research site network, sponsor, or academic research operation.
  • Experience coordinating with or directing technology or IT teams to implement operational solutions.
  • Proficiency with process-mapping tools and data-analysis software, plus familiarity with project-management methodologies.
  • Strong facilitation, analytical, strategic-planning, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-alignment skills.

Nice to have

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent certification; Black Belt or automation certification is a plus.
  • Oncology experience.
  • Experience in high-growth, fast-paced, matrixed organizations.
  • Knowledge of AI and emerging technologies for workflow optimization.
