Coding & Billing Specialist (Healthcare)

Location: United States (Remote)

Salary: $55,000–$65,000 annually, plus an annual bonus incentive.

What you will do

• Submit timely, accurate claims using CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 codes, modifiers, telehealth, SDOH, and preventive care codes.
• Track and resolve denials, rejections, underpayments, eligibility issues, authorizations, and billing pathway errors.
• Review provider documentation, assign codes according to ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HEDIS guidelines, and issue coding queries when needed.
• Educate providers and support documentation improvement, coding compliance, macros, and encounter note templates.
• Maintain the billing rules matrix covering payers, states, provider types, and modifiers.
• Collaborate with Data & Analytics, Revenue Cycle, Clinical Operations, credentialing, partner success, and payer representatives.

Requirements

• AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification is required and will be verified before an offer.
• 3–5 years of experience in physician billing and coding; pediatric experience is preferred.
• Proficiency with Athena EMR and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, HEDIS, Medicaid, and commercial payers.
• Ability to work flexibly in a changing startup environment and communicate across functions.

Nice to have

• Experience with telehealth billing, value-based care, capitation models, and quality measures.
• Experience in pediatrics.
