TL;DR
Specialist, Electrical Engineer (Transformation) (Avionics/Surveillance): Designing, integrating, qualifying, and managing the lifecycle of electrical hardware for TCAS, transponder radios, RF systems, and sensor-based avionics with an accent on digital, analog, power, and avionics-interface design. Focus on applying AI-assisted engineering, quantitative analysis, certification support, and multidisciplinary development for safety-critical aerospace platforms.
Location: On-site in Phoenix, Arizona or Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States. Travel up to 10%.

designs, engineers, and manufactures certified avionics systems for safety-critical commercial and military aviation, including surveillance products such as TCAS, Mode S transponders, ADS-B, and integrated surveillance solutions.
What you will do
- Conceptualize, design, integrate, and qualify digital, analog, power, and supplemental RF circuitry for avionics applications.
- Design circuits using microprocessors, memory devices, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, PCIe, and other avionics interfaces.
- Develop electrical schematics, support PCB layout and CAD reviews, and create engineering documentation including HRDs, HDDs, HCIAs, and PHAC inputs.
- Perform power-distribution, stress, simulation, trade-study, reliability, cost, and manufacturability analyses.
- Apply AI and machine-learning tools to circuit design, engineering analysis, test automation, verification, and defect detection.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, RF, firmware, and software teams, support proposals and certification activities, and interface with customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a graduate degree with at least 4 years of related experience.
- At least 2 years of electrical hardware design experience.
- Hands-on experience developing avionics products, RF systems, or sensor-based products.
- Experience using engineering analysis and modern software or AI-enabled tools to solve hardware design challenges.
- Ability to work on-site in Phoenix, Arizona, or Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Nice to have
- Programming experience with Python or C++ and proficiency with data-analysis and scripting tools.
- Experience with integrated aerospace hardware and software, MBSE, FPGA or firmware requirements, RTOS integration, and L-band RF design.
- Knowledge of DO-160, DO-178, DO-254, Design-to-Cost, and Design-for-Manufacturability methodologies.
- Experience supporting production and testing across geographically distributed teams and managing multiple programs.
- Pilot License or Part 107 Certificate.
