Data Scientist, E-commerce - USDS (E-commerce Security)

Location: Seattle, United States; fully in-person schedule up to 5 days a week

Salary: $136,800–$228,000 annually, plus potential discretionary bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end data analysis projects for e-commerce security, from collecting and transforming transaction, behavior, order, and fraud data to implementing solutions in production.
• Monitor security data trends, including information leakage and malicious crawling of product and price data.
• Identify anomalies, security risks, and optimization opportunities affecting users, merchants, and the e-commerce platform.
• Use statistical methods and data mining to diagnose root causes and develop actionable security solutions.
• Translate business needs into scalable data analysis solutions in collaboration with product, security, engineering, and e-commerce teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Security, Business Analytics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in data analytics.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and relevant analytical tools or languages.
• Ability to detect cyber threats and risks through data-driven analysis and investigate issues in business data and security logs.
• Strong business judgment, independent working ability, cross-team communication, and effectiveness in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with data science and e-commerce security risk mitigation, including data security, traffic security, or anti-bot work.
• Experience in e-commerce or retail and familiarity with related security risks and data analysis scenarios.
• Ability to bridge business and technical teams and move projects from risk detection through solution implementation.
