TL;DR
Assurance Manager - Industrials/Consumer Goods (Audit): Leading external audit engagements for manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, and retailers with an accent on financial statement auditing, risk assessment, and team supervision. Focus on managing multiple engagement teams, evaluating audit risks, maintaining client relationships, and applying GAAP, CASs, IFRS, and other auditing standards.

Location: Toronto, Canada; consistent onsite presence and regular reporting to a firm office required, with travel to client sites and approximately 25% travel depending on clients.

Salary: CAD 79,500–135,000 per year, plus eligibility for a discretionary performance-based bonus.

What you will do

  • Coordinate audits of financial statements, related disclosures, and client deliverables for industrial and consumer goods organizations.
  • Assess engagement risks and design, communicate, and oversee audit procedures.
  • Manage multiple engagement teams, supervise audit seniors and supervisors, and monitor productivity, schedules, and work quality.
  • Review staff work, provide coaching and performance feedback, and support professional development and industry training.
  • Maintain year-round client relationships, address concerns, identify performance improvement opportunities, and communicate accounting and auditing matters to senior leaders.
  • Manage project profitability and contribute to business growth through client and external relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or another discipline from an accredited university.
  • Active CPA or equivalent certification required.
  • At least 5 years of recent assurance experience in public accounting, including substantial external audit exposure.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, audit procedures, and auditing standards, including GAAP, CASs, or IFRS.
  • Experience leading audit engagements and teams while managing multiple priorities, deadlines, quality, client relationships, and professional communication.
  • Ability to maintain consistent onsite presence during core business hours, work at the Toronto firm office and client sites, and travel as required.
