VP, Data Architecture & Engineering (Healthcare AI)

Location: Hybrid in Nashville, Tennessee, United States; exceptional remote candidates may also be considered.

What you will do

• Define and execute the enterprise engineering strategy and multi-year technology roadmap.
• Lead software engineering, data engineering, integration, platform, and architecture functions across a unified organization.
• Deliver secure, scalable, reliable technology and data platforms for analytics, reporting, AI/ML, interoperability, and operational workloads.
• Drive cloud-native engineering practices, including APIs, microservices, DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and site reliability.
• Lead interoperability across EHRs, practice management systems, third-party platforms, HL7, FHIR, and related standards.
• Define and execute AI, machine learning, intelligent automation, governance, and responsible AI initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• 12+ years of progressive experience in software, data, platform, or related engineering disciplines in enterprise-scale environments.
• 7+ years of engineering leadership experience, including leading leaders and multi-disciplinary teams through multiple management layers.
• Experience leading software engineering, data engineering, integration/interoperability, and cloud/platform capabilities.
• Deep understanding of software architecture, APIs, distributed systems, cloud platforms, DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and production operations.
• Healthcare technology experience involving EHR ecosystems, healthcare data exchange, HL7, FHIR, CDA, APIs, or clinical and operational platforms.

Nice to have

• Microsoft Azure and enterprise cloud modernization experience.
• Experience with enterprise data platforms, analytics and AI ecosystems, data governance, data quality, and regulated healthcare environments.
• Experience defining enterprise AI or machine learning strategies, including Generative AI, predictive analytics, or intelligent automation.
• Knowledge of large language models, vector databases, AI governance, responsible AI, and AI-assisted software development tools.
