Senior Scientist, Lab Automation & Screening Operations (AI)

Location: Beerse, Antwerp, Belgium; onsite

Base pay range: €72,500–€115,230 per year

What you will do

• Support the development, optimization, and transfer of screening and profiling assays into automated environments.
• Generate, integrate, manage, and improve the quality of scientific data across discovery workflows.
• Develop digital data workflows and analytics solutions that improve data accessibility and scientific value.
• Design and optimize integrated workflows across assay systems, laboratory automation, data repositories, and reporting environments.
• Translate scientific and business needs into scalable digital solutions in collaboration with informatics, data science, automation, and technology stakeholders.
• Implement AI-assisted workflows, advanced analytics, and intelligent automation to advance scientific discovery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in assay development, screening operations, scientific data management, laboratory automation, informatics, or a related discipline.
• Experience working at the interface of science, data, and technology to improve workflows, data quality, or operational efficiency.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with screening, profiling, and cell-based assays.
• Experience with scientific data platforms such as Signals ELN, LiveDesign, Dotmatics LUMA, Genedata Biologics, Sapio, or equivalent systems.
• Experience with KNIME, Python, SQL, Spotfire, Power BI, workflow automation, or data integration tools.
• Familiarity with laboratory automation and scheduling platforms such as Cellario or Momentum.
• Interest or experience in AI, machine learning, and digital transformation in scientific research.
