Rust Software Engineer

Location: Reston, Virginia, United States; onsite in the Reston office five days a week

What you will do

• Develop and maintain production software in a large Rust codebase.
• Optimize algorithmic and computationally intensive Rust code.
• Build backend services using tools such as Axum.
• Implement asynchronous functionality with technologies such as Tokio.
• Integrate software with frontend applications, databases, infrastructure, and other services.
• Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and end users to turn complex algorithms into reliable, usable software.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, applied mathematics, or a related field.
• At least three years of industry experience.
• Production-grade experience developing performance-sensitive software in Rust.
• Experience with backend services, asynchronous programming, and full-stack web application development.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Ability to obtain an Interim Security Clearance and meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Nice to have

• Active security clearance.
• Experience with Java, Python, TypeScript, or React.
• Experience writing optimized parallel or GPU code.
