TL;DR
Senior Hardware Engineer (RF): Designing, testing, integrating, and sustaining RF and Tactical Data Link communication systems for Naval Sea Systems Command with an accent on system architecture, communications theory, technical documentation, and test and evaluation. Focus on analyzing technical results, developing link budgets and modulation schemes, supporting ship integration, and executing qualification and production acceptance testing.
Location: Washington Navy Yard in Washington, DC; contractors may be required to work onsite up to 5 days per week. Telework may be possible with customer approval. Occasional travel may be required to naval locations including Norfolk, VA, and San Diego, CA.

What you will do
- Support the Program and Deputy Program Manager within a large contractor team supporting Naval Sea Systems Command.
- Design, develop, test, evaluate, integrate, and sustain RF and Tactical Data Link communication systems.
- Support systems and system-of-systems architecture, implementation, certification, and technical reviews.
- Analyze and summarize technical data and results.
- Develop test plans, procedures, reports, and other technical documentation.
- Apply communications theory, modulation techniques, link budgets, interface design, reliability, maintainability, and test and evaluation practices to mission requirements.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED plus 20 years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree plus 15 years; or a master's degree plus 10 years.
- Relevant experience in surface radars, electronic warfare, EO/IR, decoys, lasers, or related program management or administrative support.
- Experience with hardware, communications systems, systems engineering, technical analysis, and testing.
- Work onsite at the Washington Navy Yard or nearby office locations as required by the customer.
Nice to have
- Active Secret clearance.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Knowledge of Navy and Department of Defense policy and guidance.
- Experience with RF components, radar/EW, EO/IR focal planes, high-powered pulsed lasers, manufacturing, product development, and government qualification testing.
- Experience with ship integration, hardware ECPs, field changes, CDRL management, technical reviews, waivers, deviations, variances, and shipyard operations.
