Senior Underwriter (Life & Health Reinsurance)

What you will do

• Independently assess and underwrite routine, non-routine, and complex Life & Health risks, including medical, non-medical, and financial risks.
• Monitor portfolio impact and emerging risk trends to support underwriting decisions and recommendations.
• Build client relationships through underwriting advice, case support, audit feedback, and tailored training.
• Explain underwriting rationale and contribute to product and tender discussions.
• Use data, experience studies, claims insights, and market observations to improve underwriting guidelines.
• Contribute to automated underwriting, rule trees, AI- and data-enabled initiatives, and process improvements.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of relevant Life & Health insurance or reinsurance underwriting experience.
• Experience with complex cases, high-net-worth clients, health products, or regional business.
• Strong judgement across medical, non-medical, and financial risks, with the ability to make independent and well-documented decisions.
• Strong client communication and stakeholder management skills, including client support, training, audit feedback, and product or tender discussions.
• Proficiency in both Mandarin and English is required for communication with local clients and global stakeholders.
• A relevant university degree or equivalent qualification in medicine, actuarial science, life sciences, business, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience with data analytics, AI, digital underwriting, rule engines, or underwriting analytics.
• Familiarity with automated underwriting platforms or rule tree and guideline development.
• Experience in regional or cross-border reinsurance across diverse markets.
