Senior/Lead Residential HVAC System & Application Engineer (HVAC)

Location: Sidney, Ohio, USA; minimal travel of approximately 5% to customers. Legal authorization to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not provided.

What you will do

• Serve as the subject matter expert for residential HVAC system design and operation, closing knowledge gaps across compressor engineering.
• Collaborate with product development, R&D, product management, reliability, quality, customers, contractors, and channel partners to align compression products with application and market requirements.
• Provide system-application guidance and support Application FMEAs, including analysis of normal and abnormal operating conditions affecting compressors.
• Create application guidance, technical documentation, and training materials for current and future compression solutions.
• Conduct HVAC system modeling, simulations, application testing, and performance evaluations; optimize life-testing protocols using real-world operating profiles.
• Track residential compressor and system design, qualification, rating standards, and regulations including UL, AHRI, and ASHRAE.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required; Mechanical Engineering is preferred, with at least 10 years of HVAC system design experience.
• At least 5 years of North American residential ducted split system design experience.
• Detailed understanding of HVAC system design, HVAC components, and practical field installation applications.
• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose system non-conformances using deep knowledge of compressor and component function.
• Understanding of computer simulation tools and theory applied to HVAC system design.
• Understanding of how positive-displacement compressor reliability is affected by application scenarios.
• Excellent critical thinking, structured problem-solving, information organization, and engineering decision-making skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and communicate excellently verbally and in writing.
• Ability and willingness to travel approximately 5% to customers.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; candidates requiring current or future sponsorship are not eligible.
