Senior/Lead Residential HVAC System & Application Engineer (HVAC)

Location: Hybrid in Sidney, Ohio, USA; office attendance required at least three days per week. Approximately 5% travel to customers is required.

What you will do

• Serve as a subject matter expert in residential HVAC system design and operation for compressor engineering teams.
• Collaborate with R&D, product development, product management, reliability, and quality engineering teams to optimize compression products for system applications.
• Provide system-application expertise for application FMEAs and assess the impact of normal and abnormal operating conditions on compressor reliability.
• Conduct HVAC application testing, simulations, and performance evaluations using system modeling tools.
• Develop application guidance, technical documentation, and training materials for internal teams, contractors, and channel partners.
• Engage engineering customers to evaluate compression technologies, validate value assumptions, and gather feedback on future products.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering; mechanical engineering is preferred.
• At least 10 years of experience in HVAC system design, including 5 years designing North American residential ducted split systems.
• Detailed knowledge of HVAC system design, components, field installation practices, and compressor operation.
• Experience troubleshooting system non-conformances and applying computer simulation tools to HVAC design.
• Understanding of positive-displacement compressor reliability, critical thinking, structured problem-solving, and technical communication.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not provided.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in engineering.
• Knowledge of UL, AHRI, ASHRAE, and related residential compressor and system standards.
