Waste Disposal Technician

Location: Wolverhampton, UK; on-site role. Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 10:00–18:00.

What you will do

• Collect, segregate, prepare, treat, and dispose of clinical, microbiological, general, recycling, and glass waste.
• Operate and monitor the on-site waste disposal instrument and report faults or operational issues.
• Complete records for waste treatment, disposal, maintenance checks, and equipment usage.
• Transfer waste to appropriate collection, storage, and disposal locations while maintaining labelled, serviceable containers.
• Maintain waste corridors, storage areas, and disposal facilities, including routine inspections and housekeeping.
• Report spills, safety concerns, equipment defects, and non-conformances, while supporting contamination control and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Good understanding of health and safety practices and ability to follow standard operating procedures accurately.
• Good organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical capability to move waste containers and handle waste safely.
• Basic computer skills for record keeping and documentation.
• Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Nice to have

• Experience in a laboratory, waste management, environmental services, healthcare, food manufacturing, or related environment.
• Knowledge of microbiological or clinical waste handling procedures.
• Understanding of ISO quality systems and laboratory compliance requirements.
• Manual handling training or experience in a UKAS-accredited laboratory.
