TL;DR
Machinist I (First Shift) (Precision Medical Manufacturing): Producing precision manufacturing tooling, fixtures, and fabricated parts for new machine construction projects with an accent on manual machining, dimensional accuracy, and equipment care. Focus on setting up and operating mills, lathes, grinders, saws, and drill presses, fabricating parts within tolerances, and maintaining quality and safety standards.

Location: Salem, New Hampshire, USA; onsite, first shift

What you will do

  • Produce precision manufacturing tooling, fixtures, and fabricated metallic and non-metallic parts for new machine construction projects.
  • Set up and operate assigned work centers, including Bridgeport mills, manual lathes, grinders, saws, drill presses, and other manual equipment.
  • Apply feeds, speeds, tooling, mathematics, drawings, and specifications to machine parts within required dimensions and tolerances.
  • Fabricate, polish, inspect, deburr, grind, lap, and finish manufacturing tools.
  • Use micrometers, verniers, gauges, indicators, machinist scales, and optical comparators for precision inspection.
  • Maintain machines, perform assigned preventive maintenance, keep work areas organized, and maintain tooling records.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, trade school diploma, GED equivalent, or appropriate machining certifications.
  • Entry-level machining capability or 0–5 years of machining or related experience.
  • Ability to set up and operate at least one major machining area under the oversight of an experienced machinist.
  • Ability to read drawings and specifications, calculate dimensions and tolerances, and produce quality parts on schedule.
  • Moderate computer skills for navigating internal systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lb and comply with safety and quality procedures.

Nice to have

  • Lean manufacturing Yellow or Green Belt.
  • TIG and MIG welding experience.
  • Sheet metal programming and operation of shears, brakes, and punches.
  • CNC miller or CNC lathe programming and operation experience.
  • CAD/CAM skills with Mastercam and novice Microsoft Excel skills.
