Chemist III, R&D (Water Quality)

Location: Onsite in Ames, Iowa, United States

Salary: $80,000–$90,000 USD per year, plus eligibility for bonus pay

What you will do

• Develop and validate chemical analysis methods for hirify.global instrumentation through independent research.
• Create reagent formulations, calibrations, and quality control procedures with minimal supervision.
• Collaborate with marketing, engineering, and operations to commercialize new or modified products and applications.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to chemists, engineers, technicians, and interns.
• Support manufacturing with chemistry expertise, training, and problem-solving to improve production efficiency.
• Document development work, review competitive literature, and translate market needs into product design decisions.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field with 0–2 years of experience; or an M.S. with 5+ years; or a B.S. with 12+ years of direct chemistry experience.
• Experience in chemistry design, characterization, functional testing, and problem-solving.
• Expert-level proficiency in analytical laboratory techniques, practices, and procedures.
• Ability to interpret and communicate technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
