Buyer (Supply Chain)

What you will do

• Analyze MRP and availability reports, review demand requirements, and order and schedule component parts across locations and product lines.
• Track late purchase orders, expedite deliveries, and coordinate with production control to address parts restrictions and schedule changes.
• Improve production performance by reducing lead times, increasing inventory turns, and meeting cost, delivery, quality, invoice accuracy, and payment-term targets.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on component design, material selection, cost improvements, and engineering change notices.
• Respond to customer service requests about pricing and availability and coordinate with warehouse and inventory teams on stocking levels.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, supply management, or mechanical or electrical engineering; alternatively, an associate degree with two years of related experience.
• Ability to negotiate with vendors on pricing, delivery, inventory, cost reduction, and lead-time performance.
• Ability to lead cross-functional cost-saving initiatives and build consensus with engineering, procurement, marketing, and dealer teams.
• Ability to read blueprints, operate engineering software, communicate with groups, prioritize multiple tasks, and coach others.
• Knowledge of ERP systems, lean manufacturing, warehouse inventory, contracts, pricing, purchase orders, blanket orders, and sales and marketing data.
