TL;DR
Senior EMC/EMI Engineer I (Aerospace): Developing and validating EMI/EMC control strategies for phased array communication systems used in satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other aerospace platforms with an accent on compliance testing, electromagnetic simulation, and system-level interference mitigation. Focus on planning MIL-STD-461, DO-160, and ECSS testing, analyzing root causes of non-compliance, and implementing shielding, filtering, grounding, and corrective actions.

Location: Westminster, Colorado, United States; on-site. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. export-control authorizations.

Salary: $120,000–$160,500 per year, plus company stock options and benefits.

What you will do

  • Develop EMI/EMC control plans and analyze designs to identify interference risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Provide technical guidance to design teams on EMI/EMC requirements, shielding, filtering, and grounding.
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct EMI/EMC testing for electronics modules and phased array communication systems.
  • Use CST Studio Suite, ANSYS HFSS, and similar tools to model electromagnetic fields at component, subsystem, and system levels.
  • Investigate compliance and performance issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare compliance documentation, test reports, design guidelines, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • At least four years of EMI/EMC engineering experience, preferably in aerospace and defense.
  • Strong knowledge of EMI/EMC principles, regulations, and standards including MIL-STD-461, DO-160, and ECSS.
  • Experience with spectrum analyzers, signal generators, antennas, and other EMI/EMC test equipment.
  • Proficiency with electromagnetic simulation software such as CST Studio Suite, ANSYS HFSS, or FEKO.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills in multidisciplinary environments.

Nice to have

  • EMI/EMC compliance experience for communication systems, especially phased arrays.
  • Certification as an EMC engineer.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering practices and tools such as Jama or DOORS.
