Principal Structural Engineer (Oil & Gas)

Location: Houston, Texas; onsite five days a week. Must be able to work in the United States and travel internationally. Fabrication support may take place at the TurboFab facility in Channelview, Texas.

Salary: $120,600–$180,900 per year.

What you will do

• Develop structural, civil, foundation, skid, and modular building designs for gas compressor stations, power generation and cogeneration facilities, offshore single-lift modules, and modular process equipment.
• Perform structural steel design and analysis, prepare structural analysis and design reports, and document connection details and foundation interface loads.
• Produce structural arrangements, details, foundation designs, civil designs, specifications, cost estimates, and proposal manhour estimates.
• Support project schedules, design reviews, marine surveys, fabrication, installation, commissioning, startup, and transportation of large equipment.
• Interface with mechanical, piping, instrumentation, electrical, quality, purchasing, fabrication, suppliers, and customers to define scope and resolve technical issues.
• Provide technical expertise, review engineered products, mentor junior engineers, recommend design and process changes, and resolve complex structural problems.

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of oil and gas industry experience.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineering License in the State of Texas.
• Familiarity with ASTM, ACI, CRSI, ASCE, OSHA, IBC, and AWS standards and codes.
• Experience with PIP and ASCE Wind Loads for Petrochemical and Other Industrial Facilities.
• Experience with STAAD Pro and industry-standard structural analysis software, including RAMconnect and MathCAD.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting proficiency, strong written and verbal English communication skills, urgency, and organizational skills for managing multiple projects and competing priorities.
• Ability to work in the United States and travel internationally.

Nice to have

• Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineering Licenses in other states.
• Technical Spanish reading and writing ability.
• 6-Sigma background.
• Experience working with a fabrication yard or facility.
• Basic knowledge of turbines, compressors, generators, and other mechanical equipment.
• Experience with API 2A, NFPA, and international codes.
• Current US passport.
