TL;DR
FP&A Analyst (Financial Planning and Analysis): Supporting budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and business performance for an independent animation studio with an accent on commercial analysis, e-commerce performance, inventory, and working capital. Focus on building financial models, analysing profitability and operational costs, improving reporting systems, and translating financial data into actionable recommendations.
Location: Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia. Flexible hybrid work arrangement with work-from-home options and flexi-hours.

What you will do
- Partner with Production and Development leads on budgets, forecasts, rolling forecasts, and scenario analysis covering revenue, margin, operating expenses, EBITDA, and cash flow.
- Analyse actuals against budgets and forecasts, identifying drivers, risks, opportunities, and discrepancies.
- Evaluate e-commerce sales, profitability, margins, pricing, promotions, discounts, fulfilment, shipping, payment, marketplace, and marketing costs.
- Support inventory forecasting and valuation with Operations and Supply Chain, including turnover, ageing, and slow-moving stock analysis.
- Prepare monthly management reports, present insights to senior leadership, and provide clear recommendations to non-finance stakeholders.
- Optimise Xero, Shopify, PayPal, A2X, and related integrations; automate reporting and improve data accuracy while supporting AP, AR, payroll, and finance team development.
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting and Finance.
- CPA or CA qualified, or currently pursuing CPA or CA qualification.
- 4+ years of experience in financial accounting, management accounting, and FP&A.
- Strong understanding of P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Strong Excel skills, including financial modelling, data analysis, and reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to investigate discrepancies.
Nice to have
- Experience in e-commerce, retail, or consumer products.
- Hands-on experience with Xero, Shopify, PayPal, A2X, or Airtable.
- Experience or interest in arts, animation, gaming, or internet culture.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, organisation, and time management skills.
