mRNA Process Development Scientist (RNA)

Location: Boston, MA, USA; candidates must live within a commutable distance. Full-time Monday-Friday schedule, 8am-5pm.

Salary: $32.00-$41.00 per hour, based on education and related experience.

What you will do

• Support early and operational mRNA process development activities.
• Produce and purify RNA constructs using in vitro transcription, chromatography, and tangential flow filtration.
• Perform analytical testing with capillary gel electrophoresis, ÄKTA chromatography, HPLC, and ELISA.
• Process experimental data and prepare summaries for team members and key stakeholders.
• Prepare buffers, reagents, and stock solutions according to recipes and SOPs.
• Maintain laboratory documentation and equipment, support troubleshooting, and uphold laboratory safety standards.

Requirements

• B.S. in chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry, or a related field with at least 1 year of relevant laboratory experience, or an M.S. with at least 6 months of relevant experience.
• Experience with molecular biology and RNA biochemistry methods, including in vitro transcription.
• Experience with tangential flow filtration, capillary gel electrophoresis, ÄKTA chromatography, HPLC, and ELISA.
• Experience with good documentation practices and electronic lab notebooks such as Benchling.
• Strong communication, data analysis, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Authorization to work indefinitely in the United States without restriction or sponsorship is required.

Nice to have

• Process development experience with RNA-LNP, protein, monoclonal antibody, or AAV therapeutics or vaccines.
• Experience with RNA therapeutics.
