What you will do

• Design and independently execute synthesis of modified RNA oligonucleotides, including ASOs and siRNAs, using diverse sugar and backbone chemistries.
• Troubleshoot and optimize synthesis methods for oligonucleotides of different lengths and study scales.
• Purify, analyze, and characterize oligonucleotides and conjugates using anion exchange, reverse-phase, IP/RP, IEX, SEC, LCMS, UV, and melting-temperature methods.
• Interpret analytical data to improve purity and yields and support oligonucleotide design and hit-to-lead optimization.
• Generate intermediates for antibody–oligonucleotide conjugates and document sequences, lots, QC data, and experiments in databases and the ELN.
• Collaborate cross-functionally, manage multiple projects, present data, and support laboratory maintenance.

Requirements

• PhD in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline with 2 years of experience, or an MSc with at least 8 years of relevant biotechnology or life sciences industry experience.
• Hands-on experience with oligonucleotide synthesis and purification platforms, including MerMade, K&A, and AKTA Oligopilot.
• Experience with modified RNA synthesis and biochemical or analytical assays assessing stability, properties, and mechanism of action.
• Ability to independently execute experimental work, apply scientific methodology, and address increasingly complex problems.
• Ability to interpret and communicate experimental data and collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners.
• Ability to work onsite in Waltham, Massachusetts is required.

Nice to have

• Postdoctoral experience.
• Experience with oligonucleotide conjugation, including antibody conjugation.
