Accounting Manager

Location: Emeryville, California, United States; 3 days onsite in the Bay Area

What you will do

• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Oversee general ledger, reconciliations, treasury, fixed assets, intercompany transactions, and equity accounting.
• Support SEC reporting, audit readiness, SOX compliance, internal controls, and risk management.
• Partner with auditors, consultants, and business stakeholders to strengthen compliance and operational effectiveness.
• Support systems implementations, process automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide guidance on accounting procedures, controls, and best practices across the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, consolidations, and public company accounting.
• Experience with SOX compliance, internal controls, audit support, and process improvement.
• Experience with accounting and finance systems; NetSuite, QuickBooks, Bill.com, Gusto, or Expensify experience is preferred.
• Ability to work onsite three days per week in the Bay Area.

Nice to have

• CPA certification or SEC reporting experience.
• Internal audit or SOX testing experience.
• Experience in biotech, medtech, life sciences, or another regulated industry.
