Accounting Manager

Location: Emeryville, California, United States; requires 3 days onsite in the Bay Area.

What you will do

• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities and ensure accurate financial reporting and audit readiness.
• Oversee the general ledger, reconciliations, treasury, fixed assets, intercompany transactions, equity accounting, and SEC reporting support.
• Drive SOX compliance, internal controls, risk management, and accounting policy development.
• Partner with auditors, consultants, and business stakeholders to improve compliance and operational effectiveness.
• Support systems implementations, process automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Serve as a resource on accounting procedures, controls, and best practices across the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, consolidations, and public company accounting environments.
• Experience with SOX compliance, internal controls, audit support, and process improvement.
• Experience with accounting and finance systems.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and drive initiatives to completion.
• Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to work onsite 3 days per week in the Bay Area.

Nice to have

• Exposure to NetSuite, QuickBooks, Bill.com, Gusto, Expensify, or similar platforms.
• CPA certification, SEC reporting experience, or internal audit/SOX testing experience.
• Experience in biotech, medtech, life sciences, or other regulated industries.
