Senior Embedded Software Engineer I (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Design and implement embedded software from requirements through production and commercial deployment.
• Develop, test, debug, document, and review system software for Linux-based single-board computers and high-reliability microcontroller systems.
• Design software architectures, block diagrams, APIs, and detailed implementations across the embedded stack.
• Integrate and validate new product designs, optimize I/O performance, and support software quality assurance.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers, assess third-party and open-source software, and provide post-production and in-orbit customer support.
• Present engineering design reviews to customers and executives and contribute to proposal writing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
• At least five years of industry software development experience.
• Hands-on embedded hardware development and troubleshooting experience, including API design for FPGA interfaces.
• Experience developing aerospace products and programming in C or C++.
• Experience with embedded systems using preemptive, multitasking real-time operating systems.
• Knowledge of real-time coding techniques, IP protocols, hardware interfaces and subsystems, multithreaded applications, resource management, configuration management, defect tracking, and peer review.

Nice to have

• Experience with real-time Linux, ARM processors, fully featured microcontrollers, and software development kits.
• Ability to read electronics schematics and component data sheets.
