Sr. Accountant - Corporate Controller's Group (Technology Investments)

Location: Chicago, IL; hybrid role with an expectation to work in the office 60% of the month. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employment-based visa sponsorship.

Salary: $95,600–$162,400 USD base pay, with potential discretionary bonus and equity component.

What you will do

• Lead accounting for capital expenditures, fixed assets, and capitalized software in accordance with U.S. GAAP, SOX, and internal policies.
• Oversee the lifecycle of fixed assets and software investments, including capitalization, depreciation, amortization, useful-life assessments, abandonment reviews, and impairment considerations.
• Review technology investment spending, procurement requests, capital projects, vendor contracts, and software agreements for accounting treatment and classification.
• Prepare and review fixed asset, depreciation, amortization, SEC reporting, board reporting, and financial statement disclosure deliverables.
• Coordinate with Technology, Procurement, PMO, Finance, reporting teams, application owners, and audit stakeholders to resolve accounting and project issues.
• Support audits and SOX activities while driving automation, system enhancements, control improvements, standardization, and operational excellence.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Initiative, sound judgment, ownership, and the ability to work independently with limited direction.
• Strong planning, prioritization, execution, and issue-resolution skills across multiple deadlines.
• U.S. work authorization is required; employment-based visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• CPA certification.
• Public accounting experience.
• Experience with PeopleSoft GL, Hyperion Financial Management, Clarity PPM, or Trintech Certification.
