TL;DR
Principal Linux Driver Engineer (Embedded): Design, develop, debug, and optimize Linux kernel drivers for semiconductor products with an accent on hardware-software interaction, kernel performance, and system reliability. Focus on solving complex kernel issues, optimizing I/O, memory management, and interrupt handling, and leading driver integration across hardware, firmware, application, and customer environments.

Location: Chengdu, China; onsite only

What you will do

  • Design, develop, debug, maintain, and optimize Linux kernel drivers.
  • Participate in system architecture discussions and improve hardware-software interaction.
  • Profile kernel performance and optimize I/O, memory management, and interrupt handling.
  • Troubleshoot complex kernel issues, identify root causes, and deliver fixes for internal teams and customers.
  • Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and application teams on compatibility, validation, and system integration testing.
  • Provide customer deployment support, mentor engineers, and drive driver development best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of Linux kernel or driver development experience, including at least 3 years in a senior technical role at Staff level or above.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux kernel architecture, the device model, memory management, and synchronization mechanisms.
  • Proficiency in C and familiarity with kernel debugging tools including gdb, perf, and ftrace.
  • Deep knowledge of PCIe, USB, I2C, SPI, and related driver development; familiarity with Git and CI/CD workflows.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, systematic thinking, and customer-support skills.

Nice to have

  • ARM or x86 platform driver development experience.
  • OpenBMC development or maintenance experience.
  • Linux kernel or open-source contributions.
  • Hardware bring-up experience and the ability to interpret hardware specifications.
