TL;DR
Paralegal Specialist (Environmental Management): Supporting legal operations for DOE Environmental Management and the Hanford Field Office through legal research, document preparation, FOIA support, case tracking, and confidential records management with an accent on environmental-sector compliance and regulated nuclear cleanup operations. Focus on standardizing legal hold and FOIA processes, coordinating case documentation, and maintaining accurate legal databases and files.

Location: Predominantly on-site at the Hanford Field Office and Hanford Site in Richland, Washington, United States, with some remote support subject to approval. Travel may be authorized in accordance with Federal Travel Regulations.

What you will do

  • Conduct legal research and prepare, draft, and manage legal documents.
  • Support litigation processes, case coordination, and legal operations.
  • Track cases and maintain legal databases, files, and documentation.
  • Support FOIA activities and standardize legal hold and FOIA processes.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information while supporting the Hanford Field Office Chief Counsel function.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of paralegal or legal support experience.
  • BA/BS degree or paralegal certification.
  • Experience with legal research, document management, and confidentiality practices.
  • Discretion, accuracy, prioritization, organization, and effective communication.
  • Ability to work predominantly on-site at the Hanford Field Office in Richland, Washington.
  • Facility clearance and, when required by the task, the applicable DOE clearance.

Nice to have

  • Environmental Management sector experience.
  • DOE or environmental law experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Adobe Acrobat, data analytics tools, and Visio.
