Data Engineering Director (Data Platform & Integration)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States

Base pay: $170,000–$213,000 per year, plus incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Drive new and expanded client engagements across data platforms, Master Data Management, and enterprise integration.
• Lead technical sales conversations from discovery and solutioning through proposals, close, delivery, and account expansion.
• Act as solution architect, defining architecture direction, platform fit, integration strategy, operational data models, risks, and pricing inputs.
• Present proposals, estimates, solution narratives, executive recommendations, technical approaches, and delivery recommendations.
• Provide technical leadership during delivery, guide teams on platform standards, and resolve architecture-level issues.
• Build reusable sales assets, solution frameworks, demos, estimation models, and delivery approaches.

Requirements

• 10+ years designing and delivering enterprise data platform solutions, including pipelines, MDM implementations, service-layer integrations, and cloud migrations.
• 10+ years in professional services, consulting, systems integration, or client-facing delivery.
• Hands-on expertise across the full data lifecycle and depth in at least two of Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, and Azure Data Lake.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise MDM patterns, service-layer integration architecture, and operational data model design.
• Ability to lead technical sales conversations with CDOs, enterprise architects, and data platform owners while communicating technical and business concepts clearly.
• Hands-on experience with AI-native tooling for pipeline scaffolding, schema and model generation, integration documentation, or automated data quality validation.

Nice to have

• Delivery experience in financial services, healthcare, or other regulated industries.
• Familiarity with federated data governance, data mesh architecture, or enterprise data product strategies.
