Senior Project Accountant

Location: Houston, TX (TAS-Cullen HQ); primarily office-based, with travel between manufacturing facilities and offices for meetings.

What you will do

• Manage the full project accounting lifecycle from project creation through completion for assigned jobs.
• Administer percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, including cost-to-complete calculations, loss reserves, BIE-CIE, and project segmentation.
• Audit financial models, track project costs, prepare weekly and monthly reports, and support month-end and year-end close activities.
• Review contract modifications, customer financial terms, proposals, and approvals while ensuring compliance with corporate policies and delegation-of-authority requirements.
• Support internal and external audits, maintain accounting procedures, and provide ad hoc financial reporting and analysis.
• Partner with application engineering, sales, project execution teams, and senior management to assess bid economics, manage financial risks, and improve processes using Six Sigma and Lean methodologies.

Requirements

• Business degree and at least seven years of related experience.
• Financial experience in project accounting using the percentage-of-completion method, construction, and bid analysis.
• Thorough understanding of accounting principles and techniques, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and knowledge of ERP project accounting modules.
• Experience with data-driven reporting, process discipline, prioritization, and managing multiple projects under demanding time constraints.
• Strong communication, influencing, leadership, and collaboration skills, including the ability to work with non-finance professionals in a matrix environment.
• Ability to work at the Houston headquarters and travel between manufacturing facilities and offices for meetings.

Nice to have

• Previous project management accounting or other technical experience.
• Experience in manufacturing, engineered-to-order, or project-based environments.
• International experience.
