Operational Accountant (Tech)

Location: San Francisco Bay Area, California, United States

Rate: $65–80 per hour, depending on experience

What you will do

• Manage and execute the month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
• Perform balance sheet and income statement reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.
• Conduct variance analysis against budgets and forecasts and provide insights to management.
• Maintain internal controls and collaborate with cross-functional teams on financial reporting and analysis.
• Identify automation and process improvements and support ad hoc financial projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 8–15 years of experience in operational accounting or a similar role, with strong month-end close experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes.
• Advanced spreadsheet skills and experience working with large data sets.
• Experience with accounting software and ERP systems, including SAP or Oracle, plus Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with SQL queries, strong analytical skills, accuracy, and effective cross-functional communication; tech industry experience is required.
