Описание вакансии
Текст:
TL;DR
Level I Engineer (Turbomachinery) (Aerospace Propulsion): Designing, analyzing, building, and testing turbopump components for spacecraft propulsion with an accent on CAD, GD&T, FEA, and integration across fluid, structural, and thermal constraints. Focus on turning multidisciplinary requirements into hardware, supporting machining and engine tests, troubleshooting components, and validating predictions against test data.
Location: Greater Seattle Area, United States; on-site
Salary: $110,000–$135,000 annually
Company
is building orbital infrastructure that uses satellites in Low Earth Orbit to collect sunlight, transmit energy with infrared lasers, and enable secure, high-bandwidth optical data and on-orbit compute.
What you will do
- Design turbopump components such as inducers, impellers, volutes, diffusers, turbine hardware, dynamic seals, and pump housings.
- Create CAD models, engineering drawings, tolerances, GD&T, and material and process callouts.
- Perform hand calculations and FEA, then compare predictions with test data.
- Collaborate with machinists and technicians on the shop floor, support first article reviews, and help resolve nonconformances.
- Support component and engine testing, including instrumentation requests, test-day shifts, and post-test data reduction.
- Maintain hardware configuration and pedigree records, troubleshoot hardware, and implement root-cause-driven design changes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, structural mechanics, and materials.
- Experience taking a mechanical design through fabrication, assembly, and testing; internships, co-ops, research, and competition teams count.
- Proficiency with NX, SolidWorks, CATIA, or Creo and experience creating drawings using ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
- Working knowledge of ANSYS, Nastran, or Abaqus for structural or thermal FEA.

Nice to have
- Experience with rotating machinery, propulsion, high-performance mechanical hardware, prototyping, or machining.
- Experience with tolerance stack-ups on built parts, propulsion, turbomachinery, rotordynamics, or compressible and incompressible flow.
- Exposure to cryogenic hardware or fluid handling and additive manufacturing.
- Experience in a fast-moving hardware startup or early-stage program.
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Aerospace, Mechanical, or a related engineering field.
Culture & Benefits
- Equity in Corp.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and eligible dependents.
