Senior Underwriter, Financial Lines & Casualty (Insurance)

Location: Auckland; primarily office-based

What you will do

• Underwrite standalone corporate accounts for renewals and new business within delegated authorities and profit centre guidelines.
• Develop and execute product strategies, business plans, budgets, and sustainable underwriting targets.
• Manage relationships with indigenous and international broking firms and service clients and brokers across New Zealand.
• Lead strategic initiatives to improve process efficiency, operating models, resource use, and revenue generation.
• Support new product rollouts, cross-sell initiatives, client presentations, and product-specific training.
• Contribute to team reporting, train junior underwriters, and maintain adherence to underwriting guidelines and best practices.

Requirements

• Graduate-level degree in business, economics, insurance, or marketing.
• Insurance qualification such as ANZIIF or CII.
• Proven experience in Financial Lines insurance.
• Knowledge of insurance industry regulations and codes.
• Skills in relationship management, strategic planning, accountability, budgeting, business development, competitive analysis, presentations, decision-making, and distribution management.
