TL;DR
Lead Propulsion Analyst (Aerospace): Developing and validating multiphysics simulations for rocket engines and vehicles with an accent on FEA, CFD, thermal analysis, and numerical methods. Focus on establishing modeling standards, anchoring predictions against hardware and test data, and driving analysis-led design improvements.

Location: On-site in Kent, Washington, with the role also described as located in Seattle, Washington. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, protected individuals, or eligible to obtain required U.S. ITAR authorizations.

Salary: $150,000–$200,000 annually

Building satellite infrastructure in Low Earth Orbit for space-based power, optical data transmission, and new orbital capabilities.

What you will do

  • Lead and support structural, fluid, and thermal engineering simulation activities.
  • Conduct, document, and present static, thermal, dynamic, and fatigue analyses for rocket engines and vehicles.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce modeling standards for FEA, CFD, and thermal analysis.
  • Collaborate with design teams throughout engine component design cycles.
  • Work with hardware and test teams to anchor models and improve designs.
  • Produce high-quality technical documentation to improve analysis accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.
  • Strong experience with engineering simulation and numerical analysis methods.
  • Experience with 0-D and 1-D thermal and fluid networks.
  • Proficiency with ANSYS and/or Thermal Desktop.
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals.
  • Eligibility to work with U.S. ITAR-controlled space technology is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience developing enterprise-level simulation standards and engineering processes.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, energy, or industrial certification environments.
  • Working knowledge of Python or other scripting languages.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver against an aggressive schedule.
