SAP Principal Enterprise Architect, S/4HANA & Digital Platforms (SAP)

Location: San Diego HQ, hybrid. Must currently reside in the San Diego metropolitan area or be able to commute independently. Onsite attendance is required for all extensive workshops.

Base salary: $170,600–$255,800 per year, plus eligibility for variable cash programs and, for eligible roles, equity.

What you will do

• Define and evolve enterprise architecture vision, principles, standards, future-state designs, and transition roadmaps across business, application, data, and technology domains.
• Establish SAP S/4HANA as the enterprise ERP backbone and govern clean-core, extensibility, SAP best-practice, and multi-ERP coexistence strategies.
• Lead architecture and integration strategy across Salesforce, MES, LIMS, Vertex, SAP VIM, legacy systems, and regional ERPs.
• Define API-led, event-driven, and middleware-based integration patterns, master data ownership, reporting strategies, and data platform alignment.
• Review solution, integration, security, and technical architecture artifacts throughout design, build, test, and deployment.
• Guide security, SOX, GxP, privacy, performance, availability, disaster recovery, system retirement, data retention, vendor, and governance decisions.

Requirements

• 18+ years of enterprise IT architecture and solution delivery experience, with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience leading large-scale digital and ERP transformation programs.
• Deep hands-on and architectural experience with SAP S/4HANA in enterprise environments.
• Expertise in SAP S/4HANA architecture, extensibility, enterprise integration, Salesforce, MES, LIMS, Vertex, SAP VIM, master data, reporting, and coexisting ERP environments.
• Experience with SAP BTP, Azure, AWS, GCP, or equivalent cloud platforms, plus TOGAF, Zachman, or an equivalent enterprise architecture framework.
• Strong business capability modeling, communication, influence, consensus-building, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in life sciences, manufacturing, or other regulated industries.
• SAP certifications in S/4HANA, architecture, or BTP.
• Experience with digital manufacturing, advanced analytics, AI-enabled platforms, ERP modernization, or multi-year transformation programs.
• Advanced degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
