Heat Treat Metallurgical Engineer Co-op (Metallurgy/Materials Science): Supporting metallurgical analysis and heat-treat laboratory operations for carbon steels, stainless steels, and aluminum alloys with an accent on X-ray diffraction, micro-hardness testing, and manufacturing data analysis. Focus on delivering material inspection results, improving processes, and managing projects from inception to completion in a plant-floor and laboratory environment.
Location: Onsite at Plant 4 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, United States. Full-time co-op, 40 or more hours per week, running January–August 2027 or May–December 2027. Relocation is available.
Pay: $18.00–$27.50 per hour

What you will do
- Operate X-ray diffractometers, automated micro-hardness testers, and other metallurgical analysis instruments.
- Test carbon steels, stainless steels, aluminum alloys, and other materials.
- Deliver material analysis and inspection results to support quality and manufacturing activities.
- Support daily operations of the Heat Treat Metallurgical Laboratory.
- Collect and analyze manufacturing-process data and recommend process improvements.
- Manage projects and communicate findings with managers, supervisors, technicians, and production employees.
Requirements
- Currently authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's program in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related degree with a materials or metallurgy emphasis.
- At least second-semester sophomore standing with 48 completed credits.
- Available for a full-time 40-hour co-op term from January–August 2027 or May–December 2027.
- Eligible to enroll in a formal co-op program through the university.
- Dependable, self-motivated, engaged learner who can occasionally lift up to 35 pounds.
