Mechanical Engineering Co Op/Intern - All Mills (Mechanical Reliability and Project Engineering)

Location: Onsite at mill locations in Counce, Tennessee; DeRidder, Louisiana; Filer City, Michigan; International Falls, Minnesota; Jackson, Alabama; Massillon, Ohio; Gladstone, Virginia; Tomahawk, Wisconsin; Valdosta, Georgia; or Wallula, Washington. Must be a permanent U.S. resident.

Salary: $25–$30 per hour

What you will do

• Support mechanical reliability assignments that improve mill safety, efficiency, equipment performance, and cost effectiveness.
• Apply predictive and preventive maintenance techniques, including lubrication practices, optical alignment, vibration analysis, and root cause failure analysis.
• Collect and analyze mill data for process optimization, troubleshooting, operational cost tracking, quality, product safety, and business decisions.
• Assist with capital projects from funding requests through completion, including planning, estimating, engineering design exposure, contractor field oversight, and project coordination.
• Use AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, process information systems, and PCA’s Trident CMMS program.
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, operations, outside resources, and multidisciplinary teams to support mill operations and improvement efforts.

Requirements

• Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0.
• Permanent U.S. residency and a valid driver’s license.
• Major in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Completion of freshman year, or expected completion by the start of the co-op or internship.

Nice to have

• Current membership in the paper foundation at Auburn University, Georgia Tech University, University of Maine, Miami University (Ohio), University of Minnesota–Twin Cities, NC State University, SUNY ESF, University of Washington–Seattle, Western Michigan University, or University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point.
• Enrollment at a state or technological university in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Idaho, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, or Wisconsin.
• Participation in interviews during career fairs or on-campus interview days at the listed schools.
