Ferrous Inspector

Location: Onsite in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Monday-Friday work on rotating bi-weekly shifts: 6:30am-3pm and 12:30pm-9pm.

Salary: From CAD 26.50 per hour, plus overtime after 44 hours.

What you will do

• Inspect incoming and outgoing materials against quality standards and specifications.
• Identify and segregate contaminants, prohibited items, and other non-conforming materials.
• Use scales, callipers, magnet testers, and other equipment to verify weight, dimensions, and material composition.
• Coordinate the movement and storage of materials with the operations team.
• Report deviations from quality standards and maintain accurate inspection records.

Requirements

• Previous experience in materials inspection within the metal recycling industry is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, their properties, contaminants, and impurities.
• Familiarity with inspection and measurement tools, including scales, callipers, and magnet testers.
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects and work in a physically demanding environment.
• Proficiency with computer systems and software for data entry and record keeping.
• Comfort working in a heavy industrial environment and in varying weather conditions.
