Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Technician

Location: Mankato, Minnesota, United States; onsite work on regional construction projects

Salary: $50,000–$74,000 per year

What you will do

• Perform routine and complex sampling and testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry, and asphalt.
• Conduct field concrete testing, including slump, air content, and temperature measurements.
• Perform field density testing of soils.
• Prepare electronic daily reports and documentation of field activities.
• Work with project managers and senior technicians to ensure specifications are followed.
• Assist with training and mentoring junior staff as needed.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of construction materials testing experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license.
• ACI Concrete Field-Testing Certification.
• Strong safety focus, attention to detail, plan reading, math, technical aptitude, and communication skills.
• Ability to work extended or nontraditional hours, outdoors in varying weather, and on uneven terrain, at varying heights, in confined spaces, or in supported trenches.
• Ability to lift 75+ pounds and perform climbing, balancing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.

Nice to have

• State DOT, ICC, or NICET certifications.
