Senior Vice President, Senior Director Underwriting (Mortgage Lending)

Location: Dallas/Irving, Texas, United States; full-time onsite role. Occasional travel is required.

Salary: $207,000–$225,600 annually for the Westlake Village, California location, plus potential annual bonus and incentives. Compensation varies by specific job location.

What you will do

• Lead underwriting and appraisal operations across correspondent delegated and non-delegated, portfolio, and retail lending channels.
• Build, manage, and develop underwriting leaders, underwriters, and the Scenario Desk team while setting goals, controls, service levels, and productivity metrics.
• Make decisions on complex conventional, government, and non-agency loan scenarios and manage credit risk within approved parameters.
• Drive capacity planning, process improvement, expense management, quality assurance, and loan production performance.
• Partner with product and technology teams to deploy automation and AI tools for faster, more consistent underwriting and improved borrower and lender experiences.
• Maintain strategic relationships with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, USDA, Ginnie Mae, and other agency and non-agency investors.

Requirements

• 15+ years of related residential mortgage loan underwriting experience, including wholesale mortgage lending.
• 8+ years of residential mortgage underwriting management experience, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field required; a related master's degree or MBA is preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of mortgage products, underwriting guidelines, automated underwriting systems, digital mortgage platforms, automation tools, Encompass, AUS, and core systems.
• Advanced knowledge of federal and state mortgage regulations, including TRID, ECOA, HMDA, FCRA, Flood, HOEPA, HPML, Appraisal, ATR/QM, TCPA, UDAAP, and Fair Lending.
• Direct Endorsement (DE) or Staff Appraisal Reviewer (SAR) designation required, along with strong written and verbal communication skills.
