Experienced Construction Materials Lab Technician

Location: Kansas City, KS; office-based work in Lenexa, KS

Salary: $45,000–$74,000 per year

What you will do

• Receive, log, and test construction material samples, including soils, concrete, masonry, and asphalt.
• Perform laboratory test procedures and learn less common, more complex geotechnical tests.
• Support AMRL and CCRL regulatory assessments and the laboratory quality system.
• Input, reduce, and file laboratory test data using standard office formats and systems.
• Maintain laboratory equipment in good operating condition and complete other laboratory tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to work independently and follow written, oral, and diagram-based instructions.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds and lift 50–75+ pounds as required.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; MoDOT or KDOT HMA or soils certifications are strongly preferred, with the ability to obtain required certifications within one year.
