Bioinformatics Production Engineer (NGS)

Salary: $114,400–$143,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Analyze high-throughput DNA sequencing data for product development, validation studies, and experiment requests.
• Move data through production analysis pipelines and implement workflow improvements.
• Troubleshoot data-quality, pipeline, and system-integration issues.
• Collaborate with biology, software engineering, laboratory operations, and medical/legal affairs.
• Prepare study plans, validation reports, technical documentation, and other written materials.
• Handle Protected Health Information in accordance with privacy, security, and HIPAA protocols.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant professional experience.
• Knowledge of molecular biology, genetics, sequencing assays, genomics, NGS analyses, and NGS file types.
• Experience running pipelines and familiarity with workflow platforms or languages such as WDL and Nextflow.
• Ability to use Linux command-line tools and produce high-quality technical documentation.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple objectives, and collaborate in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant scientific or technical discipline.
• Biotechnology, diagnostics, or pharmaceutical industry experience.
• Python for data analysis and plotting, relational databases with SQL, Plotly, or familiarity with LLM tools such as Claude Code.
