Software Engineer, Senior (Python)

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain Python-based tools for optical signature modeling, spectral sensor data processing, and analytical workflows.
• Build and optimize pipelines for ingesting, processing, and analyzing large-scale scientific and sensor datasets.
• Develop and integrate machine learning workflows, including training data preparation, model integration, and evaluation.
• Translate technical and mission requirements from scientists, sensor experts, and intelligence analysts into maintainable software.
• Create architecture documentation, workflow diagrams, reproducible builds, and maintainable code structures.
• Test, validate, troubleshoot, and review software across development, deployment, and classified environments.

Requirements

• Active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI and a CI polygraph.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics, data science, or a related STEM field; equivalent hands-on experience may be considered.
• At least 9 years of professional software development experience, or at least 7 years with a master’s degree, focused on scientific computing, algorithms, data processing, or related domains.
• Expert-level Python programming, including object-oriented design, modular architecture, and production-quality code.
• Experience with data-intensive scientific, sensor, simulation, or equivalent workflows and the ability to convert technical requirements into implementation plans.
• Ability to work in Windows and Linux environments and familiarity with Git and development tools such as GitLab, Bitbucket, Jira, or Jenkins.

Nice to have

• Experience with optical signature modeling, EO/IR sensors, spectral or hyperspectral data, signal processing, image processing, or remote sensing.
• Familiarity with PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, NumPy, pandas, OpenCV, or SciPy.
• Experience with simulation, mission analysis, defense or intelligence software, MLOps, CI/CD, automated testing, or DevSecOps.
• Proficiency in C, C++, MATLAB, Java, or Rust.
• Advanced degree or experience supporting classified customer environments.
