Chief AI & Data Officer

Location: Canada · Remote

Salary: CAD 190,000–380,000 annually

What you will do

• Own the organization’s AI and data strategy from vision through execution, aligning it with business objectives and competitive positioning.
• Lead cross-functional data engineering, analytics, machine learning, and business teams to design and ship AI-driven products and capabilities.
• Build and govern enterprise data infrastructure, governance frameworks, and responsible AI policies.
• Partner with the CEO and board to communicate progress, risks, and opportunities to non-technical audiences.
• Build talent acquisition, retention, mentorship, and organizational design programs for data and AI teams.
• Establish metrics, dashboards, and accountability structures to measure AI initiative ROI and strategic progress.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in data, analytics, machine learning, or AI, including at least 5 years in leadership or strategy roles.
• Experience managing cross-functional, enterprise-scale initiatives and scaling high-performing data and AI teams.
• Strong foundation in data architecture, machine learning systems, and the modern data stack.
• Demonstrated ability to translate AI and data strategy into revenue growth, cost reduction, efficiency gains, or risk mitigation.
• Board-level communication skills, including explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and working with investors or analysts.
• Experience implementing AI governance, ethics frameworks, and responsible AI practices.

Nice to have

• Experience in technology, financial services, or professional services organizations.
• Experience operating in Canadian markets, particularly Ontario, Quebec, or British Columbia.
