Associate Director, Actuarial Systems & Innovation (AI)

Location: Addison, Texas, or Montpelier, Vermont; onsite four days per week on Monday through Thursday. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $114,375–$167,750 USD per year.

What you will do

• Support governance, intake, prioritization, change management, and production workflows for actuarial systems and data requests.
• Improve data quality, lineage, accessibility, consistency, and controls across actuarial platforms.
• Enhance data and analytical capabilities supporting valuation, modeling, forecasting, experience studies, and financial reporting.
• Translate actuarial business needs into requirements, user stories, process documentation, and implementation plans.
• Coordinate backlog management, roadmaps, stakeholder communications, testing, deployment, and issue resolution.
• Identify practical automation, advanced analytics, and AI use cases for actuarial processing, reporting, controls, and decision-making.

Requirements

• 8+ years of progressive experience in actuarial, finance, data analytics, technology, or related roles within the life insurance industry.
• Experience partnering with Actuarial, Finance, Data, and IT teams on business-critical systems, data processes, analytical platforms, or reporting environments.
• Strong project management, prioritization, timeline, dependency, and cross-functional coordination skills.
• Strong understanding of data quality, controls, reconciliation, lineage, documentation, governance, and issue resolution.
• Working knowledge of the system development lifecycle, including requirements, change management, testing, deployment, production support, and control frameworks.
• Ability to communicate technical, data, and process concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders and influence without direct authority.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, finance, engineering, or a related field.
• PMP, Agile, data management, cloud, technology, or related certification.
• Hands-on experience with SQL, Databricks, Python, cloud data platforms, workflow automation, or business intelligence tools.
• Experience with actuarial modernization, data platform enhancements, process automation, complex implementations, or enterprise transformation.
• Experience mentoring analysts or leading cross-functional initiatives.
