Senior Consultant, Data Science and Analytics

Location: Remote in Lagunilla de Heredia, Costa Rica, with occasional in-person attendance at work-related events and up to 10–20% business travel.

What you will do

• Develop, enhance, and maintain the proprietary InsureR Insurance Analytics platform.
• Design and optimize machine learning, mathematical programming, and analytic applications.
• Build solutions using C++, Python, R, SQL, Hive, Spark, and related technologies.
• Support regional analytic environments and maintain high-performance computing infrastructure and analytic frameworks.
• Collaborate with technology teams, business stakeholders, and regional teams to adopt data-driven products and strategies.
• Contribute to research, enterprise projects, mentoring, knowledge sharing, and candidate interviews.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline with 3+ years of relevant experience, or bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Production experience developing advanced analytics, machine learning, or mathematical programming solutions.
• Strong knowledge of numerical methods, optimization, scientific computing, machine learning, and complex business problem solving.
• Advanced C++ programming experience, preferably in scientific computing or analytic applications.
• Strong Python and/or R, advanced SQL, and experience with Hadoop, Spark, Hive, distributed computing, and big data environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.

Nice to have

• Experience with Shiny, Streamlit, Dash, or Tableau for data science applications.
• Knowledge of Apache Arrow, ETL, data integration frameworks, and workflow automation.
• Experience with Scala or Java and insurance analytics solutions.
• Experience working in matrixed global organizations and interest in full-stack data science development.
