Senior Data Scientist

Location: Hybrid, with work locations in Vienna, Virginia; Pensacola, Florida; or Winchester, Virginia, United States

Salary: $99,400–$155,850 annually

What you will do

• Provide independent data science, machine learning, and analytical insights using member, financial, and organizational data.
• Evaluate predictive models, advanced algorithms, assumptions, inputs, and outcomes for risk and fairness considerations.
• Conduct descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analyses to test hypotheses, identify bias, and support responsible business decisions.
• Develop and code software programs, algorithms, automated processes, and analytical frameworks.
• Transform data into charts, tables, and other formats that support effective decision-making.
• Lead small projects and present documented findings to business partners, compliance, legal, and subject matter experts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• 3–5 years of experience in exploratory data analysis.
• Knowledge of statistics, programming, data modeling, simulation, advanced mathematics, and model lifecycle execution.
• Experience with SQL, R, Python, Hadoop, SAS, SPSS, Scala, and AWS.
• Technical writing, data storytelling, presentation, research, critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, economics, or a related field.
• Experience with compliance, risk, or fair lending analytics in financial services.
• Familiarity with fair lending and consumer protection laws, including ECOA and FHA.
• Experience evaluating or validating machine learning models for fairness and governance.
