Manager, ML Engineering (ML)

What you will do

• Lead, grow, and develop an ML engineering team through hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
• Own ML system architecture and the engineering roadmap, moving models from experimentation into reliable, scalable, and maintainable production systems.
• Partner with data science, platform engineering, and product teams to translate business requirements into ML solutions and define success metrics.
• Establish practices for model training, validation, deployment pipelines, monitoring, retraining, and incident response.
• Evaluate and integrate ML infrastructure, tools, and frameworks, including feature stores and model-serving systems.
• Work with leadership to prioritize initiatives, manage technical debt and delivery trade-offs, and align ML investments with business outcomes.

Requirements

• 5+ years of ML engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a management or technical leadership role.
• Portfolio of production ML systems shipped to users.
• Hands-on expertise in data pipeline design, model training and evaluation, deployment and serving infrastructure, monitoring, and retraining.
• Experience building and developing engineering teams, hiring talent, and supporting technical learning and risk-taking.
• Experience collaborating with data scientists, product managers, and infrastructure engineers on end-to-end solutions.
• Strong communication skills and comfort with ambiguity in early-stage ML projects.
