Senior Manager, Data Engineering

Location: United States; full-time remote work is available. KIPP Foundation offices are located in New York City and Chicago.

Salary: $104,000–$123,500 per year

What you will do

• Own end-to-end delivery of data architecture, semantic layer, ETL, pipeline, data model, and testing solutions.
• Lead sprint planning, release planning, sprint execution, dependency management, and delivery tracking.
• Design and operate data quality frameworks with monitoring, alerting, root cause analysis, and impact assessments.
• Manage and continuously improve data platform operations, pipelines, monitoring standards, and operational controls.
• Establish foundational MLOps, machine learning, feature engineering, and ML/AI platform integration capabilities.
• Partner with analytics, application development, IT operations, product management, and regional data teams while mentoring data engineers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience in data engineering, infrastructure engineering, or a related technical field.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, Spark, PySpark, SSIS, ETL, data pipelines, and data platform operations.
• Experience with SQL Server and cloud data warehouse or lakehouse platforms such as Microsoft Fabric/OneLake, Snowflake, or Databricks.
• Experience managing agile sprint operations, DevOps metrics, and JIRA or a similar project management tool.
• Experience with Git-based version control and CI/CD platforms such as Bitbucket, GitHub, or Azure DevOps.
• Bachelor’s degree in data engineering, computer science, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with SQL Server and Microsoft Fabric/OneLake.
• Understanding of machine learning workflows and ML/AI enablement for data platforms.
