Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Technician (Experienced)

Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with onsite work on regional industrial, commercial, and transportation construction projects

Compensation: $50,000–$74,000 per year

What you will do

• Perform routine and complex sampling and testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry, and asphalt.
• Conduct field concrete tests, including slump, air content, and temperature measurements.
• Perform field density testing of soils.
• Prepare daily electronic reports and documentation of field activities.
• Coordinate with project managers and senior technicians to ensure project specifications are followed.
• Assist with training and mentoring junior staff as needed.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of construction materials testing experience.
• ACI Concrete Field-Testing Certification is required.
• State DOT or NICET certifications; ICC Concrete and Soils Certification is preferred, or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• High school diploma or equivalent, valid driver's license, strong plan-reading skills, and demonstrated math and technical aptitude.
• Ability to work extended or nontraditional hours, outdoors in varying weather, and on uneven terrain, at varying heights, in confined spaces, or in supported trenches.
• Ability to lift more than 75 pounds and perform climbing, balancing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
