CDL Switcher Driver (Charlotte Plant)

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina, United States; onsite, full-time, D shift from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Pay: $25.50 per hour. A $5,000 sign-on bonus may also be available.

A food manufacturing company with a portfolio of established food and beverage brands, including Campbell’s, Goldfish, Pepperidge Farm, Prego, and V8.

What you will do

• Shuttle merchandise and raw materials between company properties and perform local backhauls as needed.
• Operate tractor-trailer trucks, straight-body trucks, forklifts, floor jacks, and other material-handling equipment.
• Move trailers to and from shipping and receiving docks and complete lot and yard checks.
• Perform DOT and company pre-trip safety inspections and maintain trip reports, logs, and trailer-yard inventory records.
• Inspect and secure dropped trailer loads, apply trailer seals, place shipping paperwork, and correct discrepancies.
• Maintain dock and warehouse areas by sweeping, removing debris, retrieving pallets, reporting defective equipment, and performing light maintenance.

Requirements

• CDL Class A driver’s license and DOT Medical Card required.
• CDL Tank Vehicle Endorsement required if applicable.
• High school diploma or GED and/or one year of production experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of Department of Transportation rules and regulations.
• Ability to operate material-handling equipment and learn a yard-management system.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and perform frequent sitting, standing, driving, hand use, pushing, and pulling.

Nice to have

• At least one year of tractor-trailer driving experience.
