Software Developer Internship - Summer 2027 (Java)

Location: In person in Lansing, Michigan, United States. The internship has full-time hours from Monday through Friday, with flexible start and end dates typically running from mid-May to mid-August.

What you will do

• Define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain new and existing software programs and applications.
• Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and brainstorming sessions.
• Create program and system documentation.
• Analyze and resolve software errors accurately and promptly.
• Consult with users, architects, project leaders, and management to resolve problems and recommend alternatives.

Requirements

• Work toward a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Have completed at least two years of coursework.
• Be able to learn and use the tools and software development techniques adopted by the IT Division.
• Be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Java and RESTful services.
• Experience with a modern integrated development environment.
• Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Node, React, Angular, or container deployments.
• Experience with source control management software.
• Enthusiasm for finding and implementing solutions to new challenges.
