Senior Director, Portfolio Reporting & Analytics (AI/ML)

Location: Waltham, MA; onsite

Salary: $233,000–$285,000 USD base pay

What you will do

• Design and scale an enterprise clinical and portfolio reporting, analytics, and insights platform.
• Establish a governed single source of truth by integrating internal, CRO, vendor, and benchmarking data.
• Architect operational data infrastructure, including data lakes or warehouses, semantic layers, and data products, in partnership with IT/Digital.
• Define clinical study, program, and portfolio KPIs covering timelines, costs, quality, enrollment, vendors, and milestones.
• Develop predictive, simulation, and AI/ML-powered prescriptive analytics for risks, timelines, costs, resource demand, and scenario trade-offs.
• Lead country and site intelligence, resource capacity planning, change management, and adoption across governance and portfolio operating rhythms.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or life sciences field such as statistics, data science, engineering, operations research, epidemiology, pharmacy, or biology.
• 15+ years of increasing responsibility in biopharma or biotech R&D, including 5+ years leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience building enterprise data and analytics platforms, single-source-of-truth solutions, KPI frameworks, and plan-versus-actual analyses for R&D portfolios.
• Hands-on expertise in advanced analytics and machine learning, including forecasting, simulation, optimization, and operational decision-support tools.
• Understanding of the clinical development lifecycle, GCP/GxP, data privacy, and validation expectations for decision-support tools.
• Executive presence, strong communication and decision-making skills, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders in a matrix environment.

Nice to have

• Master’s or PhD in data science, biostatistics, operations research, or a related discipline; MBA.
• Experience with country and site selection analytics, enrollment prediction, and vendor performance analytics.
• Familiarity with CTMS, EDC, eTMF, RTSM, safety, eCOA, enterprise planning, and HR capacity-planning systems.
• Background in metadata, master data management, data product management, and analytics adoption at scale.
